As the latest in her family’s long line of Stewards, Ruth Macken awaits the arrival of a warrior sworn to the Tuatha dé Danaan, the Celtic gods her family has served since the beginning of time. For on that day, a magical battle will erupt. A war between druids and an evil that will decide the fate of mankind.
Isaac Connel knows the battle is imminent, and is ready to fight, once again but from the moment he sees Ruth flitting around the sacred ground, he’s captivated by her fiery charms and a need to protect her.
Despite Isaac’s assurances and the dreams that guide her, what can Ruth and her lover do to drive off this evil? Despite everything, will the world end at the hands of an evil god?
~~This book concerns Stacy’s (see below) ancestor Ruth, and the battle that took place on the original Irish family homestead in the year 1513.~~
History and suchlike in Druid Warrior's Heart
Yes, the 16th century setting was...fun? When I went into writing Druid Warrior's Heart, I had a background in my head of the 16th century that ... in some ways mirrored the Ireland of that time, and in other ways, it didn't. But my background was in 15th and 16th century Italy and...trust me, they're not exactly alike.
Hence, as I mentioned in the page on Passion's Sacred Dance, although the series includes a heavy dose of fantasy and fantastical worldbuilding, there was a lot of research involved in this book. From the food to the dress of, basically, a peasant girl, to the area itself, just an awful lot of the writing was done in taking notes and backing up what I was saying to my very stickler critique readers (*waves*). One thing I learned? I do love me the art and culture of the Middle Ages and Renaissance but omg give me modernity!
(Unfortunately, I can't link you because it seems too many of the sites I relied on decided their educational pages on said subjects weren't necessary anymore--grr.....But there are good books on the subject too. :) for instance, Life in a Medieval Village by Frances and Joseph Gies, Daily Life in Medieval Europe by Jeffrey L. Singman, The Life of St. Brigid, and several others that I'm sure I'm forgetting.
But enough book nerdiness. :) The playlist for Druid Warrior's Heart can be seen here.
